The Russian airline Volga-Dnepr became a partner of the world flight of Solar Impulse 2, due to the logistic support provided by the company. The World Tour of airplane Solar Impulse 2, which ended on July 26 in Abu Dhabi, originally started as a proof of the reliability of alternative energy technologies in the field of aviation. The Russian airline Volga-Dnepr has significant contribution to the realization of this ambitious project, ensuring equipment for the organization of travel Solar Impulse 2 around the circumnavigation route. The organizers of the projects adopted the Russian airline company to the logistic partners of the project.

Since the departure of the aircraft Solar Impulse 2 from Abu Dhabi on March 9, the airline company Volga-Dnepr ensure the implementation of charter cargo and passenger flights throughout the route of the aircraft. In the course of it were delivered spare parts, mobile hangar, as well as the technical project team.

According to the report of the Russian cargo carrier, the airline Volga-Dnepr provides support for the project on the modernized aircraft IL-76TD-90VD corresponding to the current and future requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization noise and emissions and not having restrictions on flights worldwide. Mass of the transported equipment for the project amounted to more than 25 tons, and the IL-76TD-90VD should be in constant readiness to upon request of the customer to deliver the goods to the desired point of the globe.
