First commercial flight of A380 to Rio de Janeiro

On August 22 at 20:05 the first commercial flight of A380 to Rio de Janeiro landed at RIOgaleão – Tom Jobim International Airpor.

Air France flight from Paris to Rio was specially programmed to celebrate the Summer Olympics in Rio. This milestone was celebrated with a welcoming of the plane with a water salute. The airport joined the list of a total of 230 airports in the world which have the capacity to operate with A380.

RIOgaleão offers three stands for parking and servicing of aircraft A380. As a result of constant efforts for certification in recent years, four airports in Latin America are now ready to welcome A380 commercial flights and to support long-term air traffic in the region. The International Airport Tom Jobim International Airport join the airports Benito Juarez Mexico City Airport, Sao Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport, and Cancun International Airport.

A380 is the largest passenger aircraft in the world that offers the smoothest and softest flight. With comfortably located, an average of 544 seats on routes up to 8200 sea miles, A380 has the unique ability to generate revenue, boost traffic and attract passengers. A380 is the only aircraft that has two floors. More than 130 million passengers have enjoyed the experience of flying on board the A380. Every three minutes one A380 or off or lands somewhere in the world.
