Ethiopian now has its first Airbus A350

A350 airliner entered Africa through the front entrance. Ethiopian Airlines is not only the most profitable company in Africa but also become the new operator of the new plane of the aircraft manufacturer Airbus, after receiving its first A350, which base airport will be Addis Ababa. Delivery ceremony was held on the evening of June 28 in the center of Airbus in Toulouse, in the presence of Tewolde GebreMariam CEO of the company, and Tom Williams, director of “Operations” of Airbus.

At first, A350 will perform regional flights from two to four hours maximum time to raise the qualification of the flight crew and cabin staff. When the second plane is delivered , Ethiopian will start to operate on ist line to London. Delivery must be done in August – “early August” jokingly insisted Tewolde GebreMariam, because the first was delivered with a few weeks delay.

As part of the program for Vision 2025, Ethiopian airline foresees doubling its network of air routes and its fleet since 2010. For this purpose, the airline has already ordered 14 aircraft A350, but also for six Boeing 787-8 , the deliveries of which are scheduled to begin soon, two 787-9 (lease) and 20 aircraft 737 MAX 8. The airline could acquire more or even 787 777-8 or A350-1000.
