Charter flights from Russia to Turkey resume today, July 7

Today the charter flights from Russia to Turkish resorts were officially renewed. Tour operators in Turkey expect at least 750,000 Russian tourists by the end of the year.

These are the first the Russian tourist flights to Turkey after the 8-month break because of the Russian bomber ousted by Turkish fighters in November last year. The rapprochement was reached after two weeks ago, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan apologized to Vladimir Putin for the ousted plane and promised that compensation will be paid.

The first charters from Russia to Turkish resorts are contracted for today and tomorrow and will be carried by the Turkish tour operators. 17 flights are planned only for these two days. The Association of Hoteliers in Turkey expects at least 750,000 Russian tourists to visit the country by the end of this year. This figure is quite low compared to previous years when nearly 4 million Russians chose Turkey as a holiday destination and were second in visits after German tourists.

The Turkish side is satisfied with the resumption of tourist visits of Russian citizens. That was stated by the Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, adding that the policy of normalization of bilateral relations is already showing positive results. He said that Russian citizens of Crimea are purchasing a great number of vouchers for holidays in Turkey.
