Boeing 737-800 lost cabin pressure during takeoff from Haneda Airport

The ANA’s airplane Boeing 737-800 with registration JA85AN suffered cabin pressure problem during climbing from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. The aircraft of ANA All Nippon Airways takeoff of flight NH-561 from Tokyo to Kochi, but during climbing the crew received indication of the loss of cabin pressure and following the safety procedures returned to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. About 45 minutes after departure the airplane safely landed on runway 34R. One passengers was taken to the hospital with left ear injuries, but others remain on board and were disembarked successfully. The injured passengers suffered rupture of the ear drum (left tympanic membrane perforation). He was taken to the hospital for further treatments

The local authorities started investigation for the root cause of the accident. After the first survey of the airplane it was estimated that there is malfunction of the cabin pressurization system, which caused the loss of pressure. The airplane will be repaired and fully inspected before return in operations again.

Boeing 737-800 is also known as Boeing 737 Next Generation. It is the third generation of the airplane for short- to medium-range flight. The airplane is narrow-body jet airliner re-engined models in development. Boeing 737-800 seats 162 passengers in a two-class layout, or 189 in one class. The airplane burns 3,200 L of jet fuel per hour, or about 80% of the fuel used by is competitors from older generations. Boeing 737-800 has overall length of 39.50 m and wing span of 35.70 m.
